2006
In 2006 I joined a small management team with the responsibility of insourcing 100 professionals from the IT department of a telecommunications company. After the transition periode I'm responsible for the operational management and professional development of 30 of these new colleagues.
I continue my part-time consultancy activities in the Application Management field, producing a couple of publications, giving a guest lecture on the Economics of IT Management for the Erasmus University and training a hundred professionals in ASL.
I am proud to complete my initiative to sponsor the Honorary Chair of Operational Information Systems at the University of Groningen, resulting the the appointment of Professor Philip Powell for a period of five years. I retain an interest as a member of the Review Board and will be pleased to reflect on his research.
2004 - 2005
From 2004 as solution director responsible for product development and sales support for the solution Application Integration & Management in the Netherlands, liaising with global contacts. Train 300 sales in application services. Make regular internal and external thought leadership contributions in the field of Application Management. Co-write post-academic course on the economics of application management for University of Groningen. Play an active role in 2005 with the integration of the PinkRoccade application services portfolio into the new Getronics PinkRoccade concern.
2001 - 2003
In 2001 my focus changes to business development with primary tasks: alignment and optimisation of existing services and contracts; development of new services, including marketing collateral and sales kit; internal and external profiling of the applications management proposition, including publications, workshops, courses, seminars; acquisition of new contracts, often working closely with other units and sales force. Take initiative in 2001 for Getronics to participate in the ASL Foundation, boosting Getronics’ exposure in the Applications Management market. Participate actively in the Foundation. Give presentations in the Netherlands, USA and UK. As a part-time trainer, help more than 150 IT-professionals to achieve ASL Foundation certification.
1993 - 2000
From 1993 active as unit manager of an Applications Management unit (20 FTE), with tasks in HRM, sales support, management of service delivery. Experience in organisational development including downsizing and change management. Recruitment of staff, more than doubling capacity of the unit in 1995. Achieve and sustain high motivation and retention rate. Phase of external focus and acquisition of larger contracts in managed services in order to achieve growth targets.
RAET is acquired by Getronics in 1997 and two years later merges my unit with a similar department at Getronics forming a new unit with 100 FTE and 4 branches in the Netherlands. Initially responsible for 50 FTE.
1974 - 1992
After higher education (GCE O+A Levels; 1 year Physics at University of Surrey), work as salesman in large motorcycle dealer in London.
In Holland, start off working as a photo printer and service engineer while learning Dutch.
IT career starts in 1978 at RAET. Experience as IT-professional in development and maintenance, project management, quality management. Specialised in Applications Management.
